What Helped Me Stop Feeding Anxiety Chest Pain

Anxiety chest pain can turn one weird chest sensation into a full-blown 2 a.m. emergency meeting with yourself. Suddenly youβre checking your pulse, bargaining with the universe, and wondering if you should call 911 β while anxiety is in the corner wearing a tiny doctor coat screaming, βTHIS SEEMS BAD.β
π³ βTHIS IS IT. IβM HAVING A HEART ATTACK.β
If youβve ever grabbed your chest and thought:
π βThis is how I go.β
β¦and then got told:
π βItβs anxiety.β
Yeah.
π absolutely terrifying.
π¨ BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE (THIS MATTERS)
Chest pain is REAL.
And it can be serious.
π NEVER assume itβs anxiety without medical evaluation
Because chest pain can also be:
π heart issues
π lung issues
π emergencies
π If itβs new, severe, or different:
π get medical help immediately.
No guessing.
No Googling.
No βletβs wait and see.β
π§ WHEN IT FIRST HIT ME
I was in full survival mode:
π selling a house
π moving states
π handling everything
At one point?
π my foot went numb
And I just⦠ignored it.
Because when youβre overwhelmed, your brain goes:
π βWeβll process this NEVER.β
π₯ FAST FORWARD
Back in Florida.
Back in school.
Thenβ
π chest pain hits HARD
I looked at my kids and thought:
π βIβm not ready to die.β
So I went to the ER.
They ran tests.
π βYouβre okay.β
Then it happened again.
π ER again
π βYouβre okay.β
Then AGAINβ¦
This time with shoulder pain.
And I was like:
π βOkay THIS is definitely it.β
π Still anxiety.
π§ WHAT NO ONE TELLS YOU
Panic attacks can feel like:
π heart attack
π losing control
π something is very wrong
Because your body is doing REAL things:
π chest pain
π racing heart
π dizziness
π shortness of breath
Your brain:
π βWE ARE DYING.β
Your body:
π βWe areβ¦ not.β
π‘ MY TURNING POINT
It wasnβt a magic fix.
It was this:
π I stopped treating every sensation like proof I was dying
I got to a point where I was:
π exhausted
π frustrated
π DONE
And I said:
π βNo. Iβm not letting this run my life.β
π€ WHAT I DID (YESβ¦ I ARGUED WITH MY BRAIN)
Out loud.
Like a full argument with invisible chaos.
Because anxiety LOVES:
π silent spirals
Instead of:
π fear β panic β more fear
It became:
π sensation β pause β response
And for me?
π that changed everything.
π οΈ WHAT HELPED ME (AFTER MEDICAL CLEARANCE)
π 1. I STOPPED CALLING IT A DEATH SENTENCE
π panic can create REAL symptoms
π 2. I INTERRUPTED THE LOOP
π out loud, on purpose
π 3. I CHANGED MY RESPONSE
Less:
π βTHIS IS THE ENDβ
More:
π pause
π breathe
π observe
π 4. I REPEATED IT
Not perfectly.
But consistently.
π― BEST CASE vs WORST CASE
Best case:
π you recognize the pattern
π fear stops fueling symptoms
π episodes lose intensity
Worst case:
π fear feeds the cycle
π symptoms feel worse
π anxiety stays in control
π‘ WHAT I AM (AND AM NOT) SAYING
I am NOT saying:
β ignore chest pain
β skip medical care
β this replaces treatment
I AM saying:
π once medically cleared
π learning to stop feeding the fear can change everything
π¬ MIC DROP
The pain was real.
The fear was real.
But the story I told myself about the pain?
π thatβs what kept it going.
π¨ HOLD UP β BEFORE YOU LEAVE
Let me guessβ¦
π youβve thought βthis is itβ
π youβve Googled symptoms at 2am
π you went from calm β panic in seconds
π yeahβ¦ same.
π§ THIS ISNβT YOU BEING DRAMATIC
Your brain:
π detects danger fast
π reacts FAST
π calms down slower
Logic:
π βweβre fineβ
Your body:
π βARE WE THOUGH??β
π YOU DONβT NEED TO βTOUGH IT OUTβ
You need:
π awareness
π interruption
π a different response pattern
π THIS IS WHERE IT CONNECTS
Anxiety loops are tied to:
π time blindness
π delayed awareness
π reaction speed
