🧠 ADHD Time Blindness: Why I’m Either Late… or I Cancel My Whole Day

ADHD man worried because he is late for everything

If ADHD time blindness runs your day, “I have 10 minutes” feels like an enormous amount of time. Enough to get dressed, answer a text, find your keys, reorganize a drawer for absolutely no reason, and somehow arrive 14 minutes late wondering who moved time.

🕒 “I HAVE 10 MINUTES…”

Tell me why I can look at the clock…

see I have 10 minutes…

and still end up 14 minutes late like time filed for bankruptcy and took my schedule with it.

😵‍💫 BUT ALSO—

If I have ONE important thing that day…

📅 Zoom call
📍 Appointment
👩‍💼 Anything involving responsibility and a bra

🎉 Congratulations.

The rest of my day is now completely useless.

⚖️ THERE IS NO MIDDLE GROUND

I am either:

👉 🐢 running late like a confused turtle with a panic disorder

OR

👉 🪑 sitting there for 4–6 hours doing absolutely nothing so I don’t mess it up

There is no balance.

There is no:

👉 “I’ll just do a few things before.”

🚨 That is a trap.
A filthy little brain trap.

🏃‍♀️ THE “I HAVE TIME” VERSION OF ME

“I have time.”

So I start one small thing…

Which turns into:

🎯 7 side quests
📱 3 distractions
🔍 2 things I lost
❓ 1 task I don’t remember agreeing to

Suddenly I’m speed-walking into life like:

👉 “I’M SO SORRY—”

No emergency.
No flat tire.
No disaster.

Just… elite-level poor time judgment.

⏳ THE “IMPORTANT THING” VERSION OF ME

Brain says:

👉 “Do not mess this up.”

So naturally, I:

🚫 don’t start anything
🚫 don’t go anywhere
🚫 don’t relax
🚫 don’t become a person

I just sit there like:

💻 Loading… please wait… still loading…

For HOURS.

Then I log in 5 minutes early like:

👉 “I did it. I am a functioning adult.”

💸 BUT AT WHAT COST?

🧠 Entire day? Gone.
📈 Productivity? Gone.
🛒 Errands? Also gone.

I sacrificed a full day of my life…

to successfully attend a 30-minute Zoom call.

That’s not time management.

👉 That’s a hostage situation.

🤡 REAL-LIFE CHAOS MOMENT

I once showed up at 11 AM…

for a 1 PM appointment.

A normal brain would say:

👉 “Cool, just wait.”

My brain said:

👉 “Let’s go do one quick thing.”

And by 1 PM?

👉 I was somewhere else
👉 doing something else
👉 missing the appointment completely

💸 Paid the no-show fee like:

👉 “Yep. That tracks.”

🧩 THIS IS ADHD TIME BLINDNESS

It’s NOT laziness.

It’s:

👉 time feeling fake
👉 “one quick thing” turning into a full-blown event
👉 not realizing how long things take
👉 not being able to disengage
👉 treating time like a suggestion

🕒 THIS IS WHERE EVERYTHING FALLS APART

Your brain doesn’t track time.

👉 it reacts to it.

Too late = panic
Too early = freeze

👉 Get the Time Blindness Tracker

💥 This helps you:

🎬 MIC DROP

ADHD doesn’t break time…

👉 it turns it into a suggestion instead of a rule.

🚨 HOLD UP — BEFORE YOU LEAVE

Let me guess…

👉 you’ve been late recently
👉 OR canceled your whole day
👉 OR you’re reading this instead of doing the thing 😏

💀 same.

🧠 THIS ISN’T A YOU PROBLEM

Your brain:

👉 doesn’t feel time passing
👉 underestimates everything
👉 panics OR freezes

Meanwhile the world says:

👉 “Just manage your time better”

Your brain:

👉 “Best I can do is… chaos.”
